Type of Poetry: Narrative

Definition: A type of poems that tell a story.
Example:   typhoons are not that strong
sometimes
they behave like
critics, passing by an
island, saying, hey you
are not an island after
all, you are just a hill
fit for a Bollywood
scene

I am in that island
feeling some itch
of its breeze, but i was too
busy then
climbing one
of the narrative trees
there

and he asks
is there such a thing
as a narrative tree?
i crack the nut
and drink the clouds
there
and he is filled with
so much
awe,
he gets itchy
and scratches
all the skins
and even the bones
he rattles like
a snake
and wants to bite

the narrative tree
has everything
to offer
gentle, and soft
and conversational

but he wants to deny
this kind of tree
saying
there is no such
thing as that
and this

oh my, what a man
he is
structured in his cage
not knowing
that he is meant to
be free
from the shackles of
his verse
from the narrow alleys
of his
rhyme

goodness, we do not
even try
grafting the metaphors

i love it here
this island where i touch
him not
but he touches me
i guess
that is envy.

Significance: This type of poem that can tell a story but take less times.

Lines

Definition: A number of words that line up in a poem.
Example:
I am fast and fun.
I can dream, dreams that nobody has dreamt before.
I would go on adventures all over the world.
I want to write out my imagination.
I enjoy seeing peace.
I am fast and fun.
I want to fly and taste the air.
I am not afraid to say what I want.
I feel such smooth things that touch my fingers.
I find such pretty things in nature.
I am fast and fun.
I want to be a soccer star.
I think hard about things.
I wonder where we go when we fade.
I feel so great when I help someone.

Significance: Lines can help separate some ideas from the poem. If there different lines and ideas, it could be helpful for the audience to understand which ideas is on which line

Symbol

Definition: A sign that helps audience understand.
Example:
O Rose, thou art sick.
The invisible worm
That flies in the night
In the howling storm

Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy,
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy. BTW i dont know much about computers.
At first this poem appears to be about a rose and an aphid or a caterpillar, but even a non-gardener knows that aphids are not invisible. Once the worm is seen as an abstraction, the rose is too, and it can be interpreted according to conventional associations such as love, faith, hope, tender emotions, youthful optimism; the list can extend as far as the reader's imagination and ingenuity can take it.
An owl symbolises wisdom
The phoenix symbolises rebirth
The dove symbolises peace
Fire represents anger or safety

Significance: It's help audience understand more when looking at the symbols.

Onomatopoeia

Definition: The formation of a word from a sound associated with what is named
Examples: Crack an egg.
Stir the butter.
Break the yolk.
Make it flutter.
Stoke the heat.
Hear it sizzle.
Shake the salt,
just a drizzle.
Flip it over,
just like that.
Press it down.
Squeeze it flat.
Pop the toast.
Spread jam thin.
Say the word.
Breakfast's in .

Significance: It's help audience feel the poem inside of the audience.

Assonance

Definition: In poetry, the repetition of the sound of a vowel or diphthong in non-rhyming stressed syllables
Examples:
The Bells
by
Edgar Allan Poe
Hear the mellow wedding bells,
Golden bells!
What a world of happiness their harmony foretells!
Through the balmy air of night
How they ring out their delight!

Significance: The important is to mess with words and have fun with it.

Alliteration

Definition: The occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words
Example: Dewdrops Dancing Down Daisies
By Paul Mc Cann

Significance: It's funny when it's twist your tongue when you're doing it.
